The History of
Faith Heritage
Church of god in christ

Pastor James T. Jones, Jr was ordained as Elder in the Church of God in Christ in 1987 and was a spiritual son of the late, Superintendent Jasper D. Porter at Greater Beulahland COGIC.  Pastor Jones served faithfully as one of the pastors in the JD Memorial District under the leadership of Bishop Jerry Wayne Taylor and Superintendent David Johnson.

In 1994 Pastor James T. Jones, Jr. revealed the name God gave him for our ministry on a back road headed to take his oldest daughter to college in Clarksville, TN.  He told his wife, Linda the name given to him by God was Faith Heritage Church of God in Christ.  In 1995 Pastor James T. Jones, Jr. began prayer in his home at 1345 Fox Trace Drive in Cordova, TN.  He began with approximately seven people.

The foundation included his family, Linda Jones (his wife), Tauris, Kimberly and James Trivelle Jones III, Bro, Chester Cook and Mother Georgia Upshaw, who became one of the first supporters of the house newly founded ministry.  Many others began to join the house prayer.  In just a short time the ministry was looking for a new location.  In 1996, Faith Heritage COGIC moved to 1410 Bartlett Road in Bartlett, TN.  Foundational members that joined at the new building included Bro. Gerald Nelson and Mother Anna Harden, who became the first church mother of Faith Heritage COGIC.  In a short span of time the building was filled, and Pastor Jones was yet on another search.  On April 7, 1998, after following God’s lead, Faith Heritage COGIC purchased the building at 3802 Gragg Avenue, with a large sanctuary, 32 classrooms and offices.
